Gaucherie, left-handed house

The House of Lefties

At Gaucherie, we believe that being left-handed isn’t just a peculiarity, a little something extra: it’s a richness (yes, it is), a singularity that deserves to be understood, valued and supported on a daily basis. We also have a duty to be inclusive in this world that’s turning upside down. You’re a member or friend of this club (everyone knows at least one left-handed person).

I worked in a publishing house for a long time, which is perhaps one of the reasons why I felt so strongly about opening La Maison des Gauchers. It’s funny to say that today, because my former colleagues and I used to joke a lot about the “maison d’édition” meaning “publishing house”, which we used to hear served up in all sorts of ways.

Our site is designed to be your place for resources, information of all kinds, ideas and solutions to all the questions you might have if you’re left-handed… or if you live with a left-handed person. In the blog section, you’ll find a lot of useful information, as well as a lot of trivial stuff that I’ve had a lot of fun hunting out for you. Don’t hesitate to ask me if you have any crazy ideas: I love a challenge! I can’t promise that I’ll always agree with you, but if you have a real problem with your left-handedness, we can look for solutions together.

Sourced information

As far as possible, I try to steer clear of clichés and misinformation, which usually abound around August 13, the day of the Left-Handers’ Day, which falls in the middle of the vacation season, so journalists run out of things to write about… I rely on scientific articles, doctors or historians specializing in the subject; I check my sources. So you’ll get something concrete, reliable and appropriate, duly tested on me or on my two laboratory animals, my children (none of whom have been mistreated so far, contrary to what they claim; asking you to tidy your room is not punishable by any court of law). The idea is that everyone should be able to live better with their left-handedness, at every stage of life!
